Unearth a Story: Summer Reading 2026!
Come have a dino-mite time at the Scioto County Public Library (SCPL) this summer! Our summer calendar is packed full of free programs for all ages.
📅 Important Dates
- Kickoff: Monday, June 1st (at all SCPL locations)
- Summer Reading Finale: Saturday, July 25th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Portsmouth Library.
📚 Summer Reading Goals (All Ages)
Summer Reading is for patrons of all ages! Pick up a reading log at any SCPL location to track your books. All books need to be checked out from SCPL, but audiobooks and ebooks borrowed on hoopla or Libby count too!

“This year, the summer reading theme is ‘Unearth a Story at your Library’. You are invited to unearth books, programs, and adventures at all of our library locations and Bookmobile!
Dig out your library card or sign up for one at any location and check out physical/digital books or audiobooks to use while you are traveling or are at the beach, pool, or campgrounds. All ages are encouraged to sign up for the summer reading program to earn free goodies just for reading! We look forward to you discovering many adventures at the library this summer, ending with a visit from some dinosaur friends at our summer finale!”
