He was a well known man who traveled a lot on the railroads, all across the U. S. He was known as "The Immortal J. N." and his mission was to "Lift the veil and tell the truth." He would hold conferences at the Court House when he was in Portsmouth. There he claimed he would expose truths on many subjects, but more often than not, he never showed up, much to the relief of many citizens.
