Title A name given to the resource The Dr. Schirmann Hospital & Residence, Portsmouth, Ohio Description An account of the resource Colorized photo image of the residence on the right and the hospital on the left. Both were on Eighth (8th) Street near Chillicothe Street. Dr. Schirmann built the hospital in 1920. It was renamed Smith-Everett Hospital by Dr. Charles Smith and Dr. Clyde Everett in 1946. It was expanded as Southern Hills Hospital from 1962 until it closed in 1987. In 1988 it opened at a residential home for seniors named Hempstead Manor.
