A collection containing photograph images documenting the Gilbert Grocery Company building fire of 1910. The fire started on Saturday, October 22, 1910. It is believed to have started on the fourth floor. Cause of the fire was never determined.
The 2002 Winter Olympic Torch passed through Portsmouth, December 18, 2001, as it traveled a leg for the relay from Louisville, KY-Cincinnati, OH-Huntington WV-Charleston WV. The Torch covered 13,500 miles to its eventual end in Salt Lake City, UT and was carried by 12,012 Torchbearers. Three Scioto County residents were chosen to be Torchbearers through Portsmouth: Chris Lowery, Deanna Adams & Marcia Sanderlin. The Torch passed through 46 of 50 U.S. states.
All Saints Episcopal Church is located at 610 Fourth (4th) Street, Portsmouth, Ohio.The church was organized on June 23, 1819. The first church building was completed in 1832. The present structure was built in 1850. The structure survived extensive fire damage in 1893 and water damage from the historic 1937 flood.
