Colored image of the bridge over the Scioto River on the west side of Portsmouth. This bridge replaced the previous one that washed away in the 1913 flood. This, the sixth (6th) bridge, was opened in 1915 and was used until 1997 when it was closed and razed.

There was a big celebration when the bridges were opened in October 1929. Both streets were two-way traffic. These bridges were replaced in about 1960.

It was placed in the Historical Register May 19, 1963. In November 2012 the Scioto County Commissioners were granted control and care of the bridge.
