black & white photo image in book, Pictorial Portsmouth, page 2. August Lorberg, father of Henry A. Lorberg, was born January 1, 1825, in Imbausen, Hanover, Germany. He came to America and located in Portsmouth in 1846. He married Rosa Shafer in 1848. He was a tailor by trade, and after working for others, he started he own business and worked for 40 years. He died February 14, 1899.
