Black and white photograph of the Gateway Clipper. The first U.S. Grant Bridge was closed for repair August 31, 1978. The ferry was the only transportation to Kentucky across the Ohio River at Portsmouth, Ohio. The center section of the bridge was lowered onto barges while new cables were installed in 1979.
Black and white photograph of the Campbell Avenue School. The original eight rooms were built in 11899 and four rooms were added in 1909. The school was replaced by Woodrow Wilson School on the same site . The Woodrow Wilson School was built in 1927 on this site.

Colorized image of the Union Street school building at the northwest corner of Fourth (4th) & Union Streets. It was completed in 1877 and remodeled in 1910. On January 8, 1929 the school was destroyed by fire, thought to be intentionally set. The U S Grant School, built the next year, replaced the Union Street School.
