Colorized image of the Old Portsmouth High School at the corner of Gallia and Findlay Streets. It was built in 1871 and used for about thirty years until the School Board sold it in 1903.
Sepia tone image of the Old Ladies Home. The Home for Aged Women was established in 1896. The steamboat gothic style structure was located at the corner of Front & Chillicothe Streets. The home was used as a place of residence for women, 65 and older, who no longer had homes of their own or relatives to care for them. Only residents of the City of Portsmouth were admitted. The house was razed to make room for the approach to the U.S. Grant Bridge, built in 1927.

This shows the first Masonic Temple building in Portsmouth at Third (3rd) and Washington Streets. The second Masonic Temple was built at Chillicothe and Fourth (4th) Streets in 1906.

Black and white photo image of the Little Red School House. The building was built before the Civil War east of the site of the railroad Y.M.C.A. Eventually it was abandoned and moved to Eighth & Kendall. The building located there was razed shortly after 1905 to allow for the expansion of the N & W Railroad.
