In 1893 George Kricker built the Kricker Building also known as the city building at the left. It held the Portsmouth City Offices, a bank, grocery, jeweler, business college and other businesses. On the right is the Royal Savings building.

The first unit of this building was built in 1895 and was expanded in 1906. The congregation was later known at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
