Colorized image of Innes Band in Millbrook Park, playing in front of the Casino. This building was actually a theater located just inside the park gates at 4200 Rhodes Avenue. It was built in 1905 with a seating capacity of five hundred. The Casino was the prime social gathering place in New Boston in the early 1900's. Plays, films, and concerts were shown all year for entertainment. Innes' Band was a local group that performed at many county establishments, including the Casino at Millbrook Park in the summer time.

Black and white photo of several people around a log cabin surrounded by trees. Col. John Abbott was reared in Belpre, Ohio and came to Portsmouth about 1870 working as a plasterer. He bought hill property above Springville, Kentucky and built a cabin on the highest point in 1895. He lived there receiving many visitors until 1911 when at age 71 he died at his niece's home in Portsmouth.

On July 15, 1867 the former home of Judge William Salter was deeded to the school board for a home on 6th Street for the superintendent. By January of 1868 it was remodeled into class rooms. In June 1871 a new high school building was under construction.

The 40-foot monument was dedicated in 1879 in honor of local soldiers killed in the early days of the Civil War. Sergeant John Barnes of Company G, portrayed on the top, was the first man from Scioto County killed in the Civil War. A photograph of Sergeant Barnes was sent to the sculptor, and those who knew Barnes prior to his death said the granite likeness was very good.
