- Colorized photo image of the Devil's Den near South Portsmouth in Greenup County, Kentucky. It is a small burrow in the forest overlooking the river toward Portsmouth. Interestingly enough, on Groundhog day in the 1960's, the groundhog, Portsmouth Pete, would venture out of the Devil's Den. It was his home.
