Only residents of the City of Portsmouth were admitted. The house was razed to make room for the approach to the U.S. Grant Bridge, opened in 1927.

She rose to fame in the late 1800's and early 1900's, claiming the titles jo the "First Lady of the American Stage" and "World's Greatest Shakespearean Actress."
