In Lorberg's Scrapbook, Vol. 5, he wrote that Gene Stratton-Porter had planned a trip to Portsmouth to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Game Preserve and Raven Rock, a trip which was hoped to bring publicity to the area and the Raven Rock airport. These plans never came to fruition because Stratton-Porter was killed in a car accident in 1924.
