Colored image of canal, towpath, bridge, and mill. The grist mill was built by Lemuel Moss in 1834. David Gibson built a distillery nearby in 1857. George Davis bought and operated both businesses from about 1860 until shortly before his death in 1894.
Tinted image of the Washington Hotel. Built in 1901 at the corner of Second (2nd) and Market Streets, the Washington charged $3.00 per day in 1903 (Evans history of Scioto County.) From 1939 to 1956 it was known as the Milner Hotel. In 1979 the Washington House became part of the Riverview Retirement Center along with the Biggs House.
Tinted photo image of the Bond street School built on the northwest corner of Fourth (4th) and Bond Streets in about 1906. It had 12 rooms and was closed in 1939, razed in 1948.
Colorized image of the Jewish Temple of K.K.B.A., located at the southwest corner of Third (3rd) and Washington Streets. "Kahlo Kodosh Bene Avehom" translates to "The Holy Congregation of the Children of Abraham." The group was incorporated in 1858. This building was used as the Masonic Temple before the Masonic building at Chillicothe and Fourth (4th) was built in 1906.
