Black and white photo image of Second (2nd) Street crossing Chillicothe Street. At the upper right the building with a bell tower on the roof is the Second (2nd) Street School built in 1850. In 1917 it was torn down and replaced by Massie School. On the north east corner Second (2nd) and Chillicothe is the new Turley Building with distinctive arched windows. It was built by Leslie Turley in 1905 and was razed for the expansion of Shawnee State University in 1992.
The Second Presbyterian Church was located on Waller and Eighth (8th) Streets. After the success of the First Presbyterian church, located at 221 Court Street at the corner of Third (3rd) Street, a second one was constructed as the congregation continued to expand.
