Polly (Mary Keyes) Sikes was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia in 1799. Her family moved to Scioto County, Ohio in the early 1800's. Polly instantly became involved in many social groups. In 1819, Polly married Levi Sikes, and the couple moved to Portsmouth shortly after.
