The Inn was located on a hill on the west side of Route 104 near the Norfolk & Western Railway passenger station in Rushtown in Rush Township north of Portsmouth. It closed in 1919. Below the image is a paragraph about the hospitality of the people of Portsmouth.

The Kricker Building shows through the trees at the left. Built by George Kricker in 1893, it held the Portsmouth City Offices, a bank, grocery, jewelry, business college and other businesses.

Green red or green/brown paper stamps required by merchants to buy from the state and provide to customers when they were charged state tax. Consumers were encouraged to collect them and give them to the schools or charity. Then organizations would cash them into the state for 3% face value.
